The Theatre Department at 4th Avenue Arts is dedicated to cultivating confident, imaginative, collaborative, and compassionate individuals through the education of theatre arts. Our classes are designed to explore every aspect of creating within the theatre from acting and playwriting to lighting design and directing. Each week students take class onstage in our very own 500-seat theatre. Our curriculum explores various techniques such as Adler, Stanislavski, Alexander, and Meisner, in order to provide the most well rounded approach to theatre. These techniques help develop critical thinking, body awareness, and a strategic guide to risk taking; All key skills to developing young artists.
Do you love to sing, dance, and act? Our Musical Theatre class at 4th Avenue Arts is designed for those who have a passion to combine all three art forms. This unique, high energy class infuses all three performance aspects in one; teaching students to tell stories through song and dance, while exploring multiple genres, styles, and characters. Students will learn about the creation of this American art form, as well as the prominent figures who’s innovative styles have shaped the field. Involved in all theatre productions at 4th Avenue Arts, as well as their very own showcase each fall, our Musical Theatre class is one of a kind.
This class is designed for those students who love to create. The technical aspect is where a crucial magic of theatre is brought into existence. Not only will students learn about costume design, sound engineering, lighting design, and stage management but will learn these crafts in our very own 4th Avenue Arts costume shop, and fully equipped tech booth! Learning in the work environment is a great advantage for our students who are in the technical theatre track.
